Import data from a CSV file

  1. From the Clients menu, select Clients list.
  2. From the Accounts production widget on the Dashboard, select the required accounting period. Ideally, select the latest / newest period.

If a relevant account period does not exist, you must create and set up one first.

  3. In the Source Data tab, select Import.
  4. If data has been previously imported, choose whether to upload new data (Yes upload new CSV). Doing this overwrites any existing trial balance data.
  5. Select the CSV file import type.
  6. IRIS Elements Accounts Production Professional subscribers only. Select the mapping template your CSV file is based on.
  7. Either:
    • Drag the CSV file into the dialog box
    • Select the message to find and choose the relevant CSV file

IRIS Elements Accounts Production attempts to match the accounting period in the CSV with the configured periods.

  8. Select Import data.
  9. After import, check the data has been imported as expected. Errors are highlighted that must be resolved:
    • Missing accounts or descriptions
    • Unknown Directors
    • Unknown Partners

IRIS Elements Accounts Production Professional subscribers only. You can choose to Save & exit without resolving the highlighted problems and complete the process later — when you return to the Source Data tab, select Resume import to complete the import.

  10. IRIS Elements Accounts Production Professional subscribers only. When all highlighted problems have been resolved, select Complete import.
