Automatically attach your accounts to a tax return

You can automatically attach completed accounts created in IRIS Elements Accounts Production to your client's corporate tax return (CT600) created in IRIS Elements Tax, at submission time. Accounts must be finalised, approved, and ready for submission.

You must have the tax return for the matching account period created first. If more than one tax return exists for the accounting period, the accounts attaches to the first match.

    1. From the Clients menu, select Clients list.
    2. Change the client list view to either Active clients or a custom view that includes all relevant clients.
    3. If any of the entries are greyed out and you cannot select them, this is a restricted item — the parent client record has been set to Private and you do not have access. If you believe this is a mistake, contact your IRIS Elements administrator. Users who have Administrator level permissions are able to view all public and private client records, even those where they are not named as assigned users.

    4. From the Accounts production widget on the Dashboard, select the required accounting period. Ideally, select the latest / newest period.

      If a relevant account period does not exist, you must create and set up one first.

  1. Go to the Submission tab.
  2. If the report doesn't appear correctly, select Refresh report.
  3. From the HMRC tile, select Attach. Last sent is updated when it completes the attachment. This may take some time.

    At the time of publishing, if a matching tax return for the same period doesn't exist, the accounts still appear to attach. However, when you create a new tax return for a matching accounting period, you are prompted to return to IRIS Elements Accounts Production, refresh the report in the Approval tab, and re-attach the accounts from the Submission tab.

  4. Go back to the client record's Dashboard and open the relevant tax return from the Corporation tax returns widget.
  5. Go to the Data Input tab. A new section is added, labelled Attachment: Accounts for <accounting-period>.

    If you want to download your own copy, select the new section and select Save attachment.

  6. Complete and submit the tax return as required.
