Record general client details

To add services and jobs to this client, you must add a few more details. You can then complete a client take on form (automatically created) to choose the services you want to provide.

The fields to complete for this vary depending on the client type you are adding and, in some cases, the client sub-type.

On 21st March 2023, we made some changes to the configuration of some tabs and forms in IRIS Elements Practice Management. If you purchased the product before this date, field labels in your user interface may not match those specified in this article. Find out more about form changes in IRIS Elements Practice Management.

  1. From the Clients menu, select Clients list.
  2. Change the client list view to either Active clients or a custom view that includes all relevant clients.
  3. If any of the entries are greyed out and you cannot select them, this is a restricted item — the parent client record has been set to Private and you do not have access. If you believe this is a mistake, contact your IRIS Elements administrator. Users who have Administrator level permissions are able to view all public and private client records, even those where they are not named as assigned users.

  4. Select the General tab.
  5. Enter in as much information as known. The following are required for jobs and services but you can fill out more:
    • From the State list, select Client.
    • From the Type list, select the corporate structure of your client, such as Limited company.

The services and jobs available for selection later are based on this choice.

      • For all Types except LLPs and Limited Companies, add the Business area and Nature of business.
    • From the Account Manager list, select your employee who manages this client.
    • For incorporated or unincorporated charities, fill out Charity number.
    • For trusts, fill out Beneficiary details.
  6. Select Save.

A client take-on form is automatically created so that you can choose what services are available for this client.
