Import trial balance data directly from QuickBooks

Product subscription required: IRIS Elements Accounts Production Professional or IRIS Elements Accounts Production Enterprise.

If you subscribe to IRIS Elements Accounts Production Essentials, you can only import from manually created CSV files or must manually enter your trial balance data.

You can import trial balance data from QuickBooks™ without downloading the data to a CSV file first.

Automatic mapping is only available for Sole Trade, Limited Company, or Partnership clients. You can import data from QuickBooks for other business types, but you will need to manually map the data.

  1. From the Accounts production widget on the Dashboard, select the required accounting period.

If a relevant account period does not exist, you must create and set up one first.

  2. In the Source Data tab, select Import.
  3. Select Bookkeeping Application (API).
  1. In Bookkeeping source, select QuickBooks.

If QuickBooks is already connected, continue to step 6.

  1. Select Connect and complete the authentication steps.
  2. Select Start mapping.
  3. Once the data has been analysed, select Continue.
  4. After import, check the data has been imported as expected. Errors are highlighted that must be resolved:
    • Missing accounts or descriptions
    • Unknown Directors
    • Unknown Partners

You can Save & exit without resolving the highlighted problems and complete the process later — when you return to the Source Data tab, select Resume import to complete the import.

  5. When all highlighted problems have been resolved, select Complete import.
