Create Document Types

IRIS Financials has standard document types for the transactions you need to record, however for some types of transactions, such as those made using debit cards, a document type must be created.

  1. Go to Maintenance, then select Document Types.

  2. Select ADD NEW, then DOCUMENT TYPE.
  3. Enter a Document type code (limited to 4 characters).

    If creating a document type for a specific entity, enter the first 2 characters as the entity code, then characters to identify the document type in enquiries. For example, for debit cards XXDC.

  4. Enter a meaningful name in Title.
  5. To create a range of document numbers, select Number Ranges, then Automatic from Number sequence.

    If the number range does not automatically display, select There are no number ranges. Select here to create one. Alternatively, select ADD NEW, then select NUMBER RANGE.

  6. To make the document available for selection to users with permissions for the document type, select Security, then Input allowed.
  7. SAVE the details.
  8. Link the document type to the relevant input forms and ledgers.
