Intelligent document processing
Only available when creating personal tax returns (SA100).
When creating a personal tax return, you can speed up the process by importing tax-related documents for that specific tax year and allow the AI-powered intelligent document processor to analyse the data and auto-populate the relevant sections.
Imported documents are not stored in IRIS Elements. The data values are extracted and the document deleted from its memory store.
- Either create a new personal tax return or open an existing one.
- Go to the Data Input tab.
- Select Import Data.
- Drag your tax-related document to the area or select choose to select the file.
You can import up to 10 documents at a time.
- For each document dragged over or chosen, choose the relevant Document type.
- Select Extract data.
If you are importing multiple documents, this process may take some time. You can select Back to tax return and continue adding sections manually.
- Review the extracted data for each document:
- By default, all extracted data is available for importing to the tax return. If there is data you don't want imported, switch on Include for data import and clear the selection for the relevant fields.
- If you want to adjust any of the imported data, for example, adjust an employer's name, select Edit and make the adjustments. This is an important step if you are importing hand-written documents.
- Select Save.
- Repeat for all imported documents.
- Once happy with the review, select Review data.
- In the Confirm import screen, the data is displayed according to the relevant Data Section. Select the correct Data Section from the Select import destination drop-down for all.
- If the tax return already contains a matching Data Section, it is listed inSelect import destination. Select it.
- If a matching Data Section does not exist yet, or you need to add an additional section, for example, if the client has 2 employers, select Create new section.
- Select import data.
- When successfully imported, to continue with the tax return select Back to Data Input or to return to the client record select Go to Client dashboard.
