The Keytime to IRIS Elements data migration process
We've built the data migration process to be as flexible as possible:
-
You can choose how many clients to migrate at a time – whether it's one client, a batch of clients, or all of your clients.
-
You can choose the best time to migrate specific client records. For example, you might want to migrate batches of clients based on their year-end date.
Step 1 – Prepare your data
You’ll need to do some data preparation before you start migrating your clients to Elements. This will involve making your existing client records as complete as possible.
Step 2 – Connect your current software to Elements
Once you’ve activated your Elements account, we’ll provide you with a piece of software to download onto your computer. This software creates a connection between your Keytime software and IRIS Elements.
Step 3 – Migrate data into Elements
Once the connection is established, you can migrate client records into IRIS Elements.
Dual-running of Elements and Keytime
You will still have access to your Keytime account, free of charge, for 3 months after starting your new Elements contract. This is done by issuing you a temporary 3-month license for Keytime. Dual-running ensures:
-
you can use this time to familiarise yourself with Elements, finish outstanding work in your Keytime products and choose a time to start migrating your data
-
you can migrate as much or as little data as you feel comfortable with and at a pace that suits you
If you haven't migrated all of your data in this 3-month period, you can still continue to migrate your data. However, your account will go into read-only mode.
When your account becomes read-only:
-
you will still be able to view all your client data in Keytime
-
you can still migrate your data into Elements
-
you won't be able to work on clients – for example, you won't be able add new clients, file tax returns or accounts
