Module Settings

Use the Configuration tab in the Curriculum Manager module to manage the settings for the module. From here you can enable the module for use and migrate data across from the Teaching Manager module.

You can reinstall the Curriculum Manager module and use the migration tool without affecting data held in the Teaching Manager module. This is useful when you are testing the module or want to run a temporary migration for demonstration purposes.

  1. Open the Curriculum Manager and select the Configuration tab.
  2. Select Manage Module Settings from the right hand menu:
  3. Only the Module tab is displayed before the module is enabled for use.

  4. Select the Module tab.
    1. Work through the fields displayed:

      SectionExplanation
Curriculum Manager PropertiesSelect 'Yes' to start using the module.
      Curriculum Manager Options
      • Debug Mode. Leave the default selection.
      • Legacy Mode. The Teaching Manager module uses the same data as Curriculum Manager. Select 'Yes' if you want to continue using and editing data in the Teaching Manager at the same time as using the Curriculum Manager. Changes made in Teaching Manager will automatically update in Curriculum Manager. Selecting 'No' disables edit access for the Teaching Manager module (a warning is displayed in the Teaching Manager module to let users know that it can not be edited).
      • Module Edition. This is the version of the module which you are using and can only be changed by Ed:gen.
        • The Certification tab is only available for use when one of the 'Certification Editions' is selected. 'Certification Editions' enable you to use GPA, grading standards, etc.
        • Only a single programme can be used in 'Standard Editions', multiple programmes can be used in 'Enterprise Editions'. Having multiple programmes allows you to have, for example, an academic programme in place and different ones for music, sport, etc.
        • 'Enterprise Editions' enable you to customise terminology and add metadata.
      • Runtime Mode. Leave the default selection.
      • School Setup. Select your school type from the drop-down list. This is for information only and does not change how the module works for you.
      Curriculum Manager Naming
      • Module Name. Specify a name for the module (it does not have to be 'Curriculum Manager').
      • Module Short Name. Customise the short name for the module. This determines how options are displayed in the module, for example the option Manage Module Settings is set when the short name is changed to 'Module'. This is the default.
Curriculum Manager AdministratorEnter the Curriculum Manager Administrator name and contact details.
    2. Select Save Settings. More tabs are now displayed for Module Settings.
  5. Select the Migration tab. This tab only displays when you first load the module, or you have reset it, and no cycles are in the system. Restricting access to the Migration tab in this way prevents further data being migrated into the module when it has already been populated.
    1. In the drop-down, select 'No' if your school does not use divisions and 'Yes' if you have a multi-divisional school. This will create a curriculum for each division:
    2. Select Teaching Manager Migration to copy data over from the Teaching Manager module and confirm your selection in the popup displayed.
    3. Allow a few minutes for the data to migrate from the Teaching Manager and for Curriculum Manager to be populated with it. Cycles, departments, terms, etc are all migrated over from the Teaching Manager.
    4. The Migration tab is no longer displayed and you can work through the settings in the other tabs.
  6. Select the Integrations tab:
    1. Select 'Yes' in both drop downs to enable Canvas integration.
    2. Select Save Settings.
  7. Select the Blocks tab:
    1. Work through the fields displayed:
