Manage Curriculums
Use the Configuration tab in the Curriculum Manager module to manage the different curriculum you need for your school.
For example, create one curriculum for your UK secondary curriculum and another for your IB diploma. This enables you to link the relevant programme, divisions, students and teachers to each curriculum.
- Open the Curriculum Manager and select the Configuration tab.
- Select Manage Curriculums from the right hand menu:
- All curriculums are listed here. Each curriculum must be marked with a status to determine whether it is active or archived. A default must also be selected.
- Icons indicate properties for each curriculum. The properties displayed and how they are displayed is determined by the settings in entity preferences.
- Use the drop-down in the top right of the screen to change the Group By setting if required.
- Use the navigation tools at the bottom of the screen to display the curriculums that you want to work with.
- Choose to:
Add a curriculum
- Select Add Curriculum in the top left of the screen to display the Manage Curriculums window:

Complete the fields displayed in the Curriculum Properties tab:
Section Explanation Curriculum Properties - Enter a clear and concise name, code and description for the curriculum.
- Curriculum Model. Use the drop-down list to select the curriculum model for the new curriculum. The options listed are preconfigured for you.
- Curriculum Type. Use the drop-down list to select the programme to associate the curriculum with.
Curriculum Options Use the drop downs to:
- Set the status of the curriculum. Selecting 'Yes' for either of the options disables the drop-down for the other. Selecting 'No' for both options causes the curriculum to be listed as 'Future'.
- Set this curriculum as the default. Only one curriculum can be marked as the 'Default'. This curriculum is preselected whenever a curriculum is required to be selected in Ed:gen.
Curriculum Publication Options Enter an email address and website for this curriculum. - Work through the Divisions/Students/Teachers tabs:
- Select the divisions/student/teachers to link with the curriculum. Choose to Sync students or teachers to ensure that your selections are automatically kept up to date. This is useful if any changes are made to groups of students or teachers.
- Select Save & Close.The new curriculum is listed.
Change the order of curriculums
Change the order that curriculums are displayed in Ed:gen.
- Select Order Curriculums in the header bar. The Arrange Curriculums window is displayed:
- A tab is shown for each programme in the module.
- Select the programme that you want to work with.
- Select a curriculum and use the arrows to move it up or down the list.
- Select Save & Close to close this window and return to the Manage Curriculums screen.
Sync curriculums
Ensure that curriculums are up to date with their associated data, such as teacher and student lists.
Choose to update either:
- Select Sync Curriculums in the header. You are prompted Are you sure you want to sync all curriculums?
- Select Yes. All curriculums are updated.
- Scroll to the curriculum that you want to work with.
- Select the sync curriculum icon in your selected curriculum. You are prompted Are you sure you want to sync this curriculum?
- Select Yes. The curriculum is updated.
Update curriculum entity preferences
Update the entities displayed for curriculum. For example, choose to display curriculum Description in the Manage Curriculums screen grid.
Your entity preferences can also be configured centrally from the Manage Module Entities option.
- Select the table icon in the header to display the Edit Module Entity window:
- The Entity Properties tab displays an overview of your entity preferences.
- The four following tabs hold property details for the entity. A count next to the tab title indicates the number of selections made in the tab.
- The Audit tab lists any amendments that have been made to the entity.

In the Entity Properties tab:
- Entity Properties cannot be changed.
- It is not recommended that you make any changes to Export & Import Options.
- Filter Options indicate the number of rows displayed if filters are used for the entity. The example below has 6 rows in the filter:
The Manage Curriculums screen does not use filters, as indicated in the Entity Filters (0) tab, so this field is not applied in this case.

Work through the tabs shown to set details for the entity:
Entity Fields
All of the fields that are available for the entity are listed.
Change the Display Names for the fields as required:
Entity FiltersThe Entity Filters tab is not being used for curriculums.
Entity Group ByAll of the group by selections that can be made for the entity are listed.
- Use the checkboxes to select the group by selections that you want to include for the entity:
- Select a default if required.

Change the Labels and Titles as
required:
- The Label name is displayed in the Group By drop-down menu.
- The Title name is displayed in the screen where data is grouped. An example of how your selections are displayed for the selected entity is shown below:
Entity ViewsAll of the information that can viewed for the entity is listed.
- Use the checkboxes on the left to select the columns that you want to display:

Select whether an Image or a Title
are displayed in the header bar for the entity. Either:
- Use the Select Image drop-down to select an image for the entity. An icon is used instead of a column title. or
- Enter a Title for the entity and check the box to the left of the Title. This is useful if you want to customise titles to suit you.
- Your selections determine the columns displayed for the selected entity:
Be aware that the selections made in Manage Module Settings can determine the fields that are displayed regardless of whether they are selected here.

Choose to change the order that any of your entity selections are displayed
in the module.
- Select Order Entity xxx in your selected tab. A popup window is displayed, an example is shown below:
- Select to make a selection and use the arrows to move it up or down the list.
- Select Save & Close to close this window and return to the Edit Module Entity window.
- Any changes made to entities are listed under the Audit tab in the window:
- Select Save & Close to close the Edit Module Entity window. Your preferences are displayed in the Manage Curriculums screen.
Manage students
Select specific students to be linked with a curriculum. Students must be allocated to a curriculum. The allocation cannot be changed once data is logged against them in their selected curriculum.
- Scroll to the curriculum that you want to work with.
- Select the manage students icon to display the Curriculum Students window:
- Use the checkboxes to select the students that you want to link.
- Select Save & Close.
Manage teachers
Select specific teachers to be linked with a curriculum.
- Scroll to the curriculum that you want to work with.
- Select the manage teachers icon to display the Curriculum Teachers window:
- Use the checkboxes to select the teachers that you want to link.
- Select Save & Close.
Copy a curriculum
Choose to copy a curriculum. This is useful for recreating a curriculum.
- Scroll to the curriculum that you want to copy and click the copy curriculum icon. A popup window is displayed:

Edit a curriculum
Update the details of a curriculum if required. For example, change the status of a curriculum currently marked as 'Active' to 'Archived'.
- Scroll to the curriculum that you want to edit and click the edit icon.
- The Manage Curriculum window is displayed:

- Select the Levels tab and select a default level for the curriculum:

Three other tabs are available, these are explained as follows:
- Metadata. Any metadata fields set up for curriculums are listed here. Add values for the metadata fields as required..
- Child Entities. Shows a count of areas of the module linked to the selected curriculum.
- Audit. Any changes made to the curriculum are listed here.
- Select Save & Close. The amended curriculum is listed.
The levels listed are pulled in from Manage Curriculum Levels. Select the edit icon to access the Manage Levels window and update a selected level details if required.
Delete a curriculum
Remove a curriculum that has been added in error.
You cannot delete a curriculum which is active.
- Scroll to the curriculum that you want to delete and click the delete icon. You are prompted Are you sure you want to delete this curriculum?
- Select Yes.
- The curriculum is removed. A log is kept under the Logging tab for auditing purposes.
