Group Permissions

Access to the IRIS modules may be restricted. The restriction is applied to Staff Groups. This option is restricted to MASTER and super users. Permissions are being replaced by privileges which are set for each staff member.

 

 

Step 1 - Select a staff group

The provided Staff group MASTER can be selected or create new groups by clicking the magnifying glass next to Staff group on the Staff Browser or Staff Maintenance screen.

 

Step 2 - Select the module

Select one of the following modules. Click the hyperlink for additional information about the access rights. Where no link is shown the basic rights apply (see 3, below)

This covers the option to change own password on the Staff drop-down menu in System Maintenance.

Full access may change or set own password.

Restricted, Read-only, or No access bars access to this option.

Restricted may edit and delete information in the current tax year and view information from other tax years. (The 'current' year is the one currently being edited for that client, it is not necessarily the current fiscal year).

Restricted access cannot close time periods and limits expense categories to read-only access.

Restricted access cannot create or close fees periods and limits expense categories to read-only status.

Restricted access limits expense categories to read-only status.

Restricted access bars creation of expense categories.

Restricted access bars the deletion of tasks and restricts client attributes, job profile and notes to read-only status.

Refers to the New and View options on the client browser, accessed via the magnifying glass for clients, as well as the New and View options on the Client drip-down menus.

Full may use New and View in full

Restricted bars use of the New option but allows full use of the View facility with the exception of the Change id option.

Read-only bars use of New option and restricts the View option to display only, no changes may be made.

No access bars use of New and View options.

Refers to the New and View options accessed by clicking on the magnifying glass.

Full may use New and View in full.

Restricted bars use of the New option but allows full use of the View option with the exception of the Change id option and blocks access to cost and charge rate on the Rate tab (applies to Time & Fees users only).

Read only bars use of New option and restricts the View option to display only, no changes may be made except the registered with Time & Fees status.

Refers to the New and View options accessed by clicking on the magnifying glass for jobs and job groups. Jobs are used by Time & Fees when recording time and raising bills.

Full may use New and View in full.

Restricted bars use of the New option but allows full use of the View option with the exception of the Change id option.

Read only as Restricted plus cannot create new job (or group), mark as 'no longer current' or complete job.

No access bars use of New and View options.

 

Step 3 - Set the access rights

Full access - allows the user to insert and delete entries with some restrictions to superuser or MASTER user for certain key items

Restricted access - used by some modules. Where no specific details are given via the hyperlink (in 2, above) restricted access will be the same as full access.

Read only - allows data to be viewed or printed but no changes may be made..

No access - prevents the option being selected.
