Export CSV Files

Introduction

This option is similar to the client list option but provides output that may be used as a data file for mail-merge purposes or as input for another database.

  1. Select one of the three list options:

Data is exported in client identifier order to a comma-separated variable (CSV) file. This is a standard format that nearly all word processors and databases will recognize.

  1. Enter the path and filename for the CSV file. For example enter C:\TT\PEOPLE.CSV

This would create a file in the C:\TT directory called PEOPLE.CSV. It is not essential to use the .CSV file extension but recommended, because the word processor or database package may well recognise this to mean a comma-separated variable file, thus speeding up the process of importing it. Microsoft Word, Excel and Access will recognize .CSV file extensions.

  1. If the filename entered already exists, confirm that it is to be overwritten.

  2. Click Yes to continue, No to return to step 2 and re-enter the filename.

  1. Choose whether or not to include a ' header record'.
  1. The file is created and the following prompt displays when the process is complete.
