Manage Communication Settings

Communication settings determine how you can send messages to a person A parent, legal guardian, carer, or someone responsible for a student. or staff member using IRIS Reach.

  1. Select Settings > Communication Settings.
  2. The Control Panel - Communication Settings page is displayed.

Apply Text Message and In-App Message Settings

  1. In SMS / App Settings, from the Default options, select ON or OFF to activate or deactivate whether you can send text messages or in-app messages for the MyEd Name of the application parents and carers use to receive messages sent by schools using IRIS Reach. app.

    Do not select OFF from Default when using IRIS Reach.

  1. Select GO to save the settings.

Apply Voice Broadcast Settings

Voice broadcast is a computer generated spoken message that can be delivered to telephone number when you are sending an text message to a person who does not have a mobile number. When the person answers the call, the message is played automatically.

  1. In Voice Broadcast Settings, from the Default options, select ON or OFF to activate or deactivate the ability to send recorded voice messages from IRIS Reach.
  2. Select GO to save the settings.

Apply Email Settings

  1. In Email Settings, from the Default options, select ON or OFF to determine whether you can send emails from IRIS Reach.
  2. Select GO to save the settings.

If you want to block a specific email address, select Click here to block an email address sending into the inbox. For more information, go to Block Emails.

Set Available Message Types

You can decide what types of messages you want a person to be able to send from IRIS Reach.

  1. In Messaging Controls, select one of the following options from the Setting drop-down list:

    • Freeform — to allow the person to select the message type when sending the message
    • Mobile App Message Only — messages can only be sent to a person in the MyEd app
    • Mobile App Message Only with sms for those who do not have MyEd — messages can only be sent to a person who has the MyEd app or a mobile number
    • SMS and Mobile App Message — all messages are sent by text and as an in-app message to a person who has the MyEd app.
  2. Select GO to save the settings.
