Authentication Methods

ID Manager is used to set the authentication options, such as fingerprint, card, or PIN, when adding or editing a person's account.

Authentication methods that require a card or PIN number can be allocated to more than one person at a time. For more information, go to Allocate PINs to Users.

The selected authentication methods also need to be activated as a log in authentication method for each piece of software the person has access to.

When you manually create an account for a person, the Access is set to None and must be changed before you can save their details.

The Access option is used to set authentication options the person can use: 

  • Finger (F) — can only log in using fingerprint
  • Card (C) — can only log in using a card
  • Barcode (B) — can only log in using a barcode
  • Pin (P) — can only log in using a PIN number
  • Username and Password (NPW) — can only log in using their Username and Password
  • Password (PW) — can only log in using a password
  • Finger or Card (F/C) — can log in using either their fingerprint or a card
  • Finger or Barcode (F/B) — can log in using either their fingerprint or a barcode
  • Finger or PIN (F/P) — can log in using either their fingerprint or a PIN number
  • Finger or Card or Barcode or Pin (F/C/B/P) — can log in using either their fingerprint, a card, a barcode, or a PIN number
  • Finger or Force Confirmation (F+) — can only log in using their fingerprint and a confirmation method (requires two fingerprint enrollment)
  • PIN and Finger (PF) — can only log in using a PIN Number and their fingerprint
  • Card and PIN (CP) — can only log in using a card and a PIN number
