HMRC and Government Gateway URLs

Configuring a firewall.

The following URLs must be permitted to enable electronic communication with HMRC and the Government Gateway.

  • www.govtalk.gov.uk

  • www.hmrc.gov.uk

  • secure.gateway.gov.uk (Note full address begins with https:\\)

  • Anything secure or un-secure to ‘….gateway.gov.uk’

  • https://secure.gateway.gov.uk/submission

  • https://secure.gateway.gov.uk/submission/ggsubmission.asp

  • https://dps.ws.hmrc.gov.uk/dpsauthentication/service

  • https://dps.ws.hmrc.gov.uk/dps/service

  • https://secure.gateway.gov.uk/soap/2007/02/Public/Public.asmx

  • https://transaction-engine.tax.service.gov.uk/submission

Access must be granted for all items beginning with the text stated above plus subsidiary items, such as
www.govtalk.gov.uk would permit www.govtalk.gov.uk/taxation/MOV, www.govtalk.gov.uk/CM/gms-x and so forth..

Ports 80 and 443 must be opened for bi-directional communication.
