Create new occupational sick pay schemes

  1. Go to Admin.

  1. From the Pay section , select Occupational Pay Schemes.
  2. You see a list of your organisation’s existing pay schemes.

Add a new occupational sick pay scheme

  1. From the Sick Pay tab, select New Scheme.
  2. Complete the screen, using this table as a guide. Fields marked with an asterisk * are mandatory.

    How to complete

    Scheme Name*

    Type a name for the new pay scheme

    Start Date*

    Type or select the date when the new pay scheme will start

    End Date

    If required, type or select the date when the new pay scheme will end

    Rolling

    If the pay scheme is used over a rolling period, tick the box

    Rolling Weeks

    If the pay scheme is used over a rolling period, type the number of weeks. If you do not specify a rolling period, the period is set to 52 weeks

    Apply Sickness Spells

    If employees are entitled to a number of sickness spells within a rolling period before waiting days are applied to a new sickness absence, tick the box. If employees reach the specified number of sickness spells within a rolling period, the specified number of waiting days is applied to the next absence in the period

    Sickness Spells

    If you tick the box in the Apply Sickness Spells field, type the number of permitted sickness spells in this field

    Waiting Days

    Type the number of days that employees must wait to qualify for payment under the new scheme

    Reduce Entitlement By Partial Absence

    If employees’ entitlement under the new scheme will be reduced by partial absences, tick the box

    Apply FTE to Entitlement

    If you want to apply full time equivalent (FTE) values to employees’ entitlement under the new scheme, tick the box

  1. Select OK to add the new scheme to the list.
  2. Select the Scheme in the list and then click New Rate.
  3. Complete the screen, using this table as a guide. Fields marked with an asterisk * are mandatory.

    Months To Qualify*

    Type the number of months that employees must have worked to qualify for this payment rate

    Apply Order*

    From the drop-down menu, select the order in which this payment rate will be applied

    Days*

    Type the number of days that employees will be paid for at this rate

    Rate %*

    Type the percentage of their pay that employees will receive

  1. Select OK.
  2. Repeat this process for each rate that you need to add to the scheme.
