Edit your hierarchy
Use the Admin section of IRIS Cascade to maintain the structure of your hierarchy quickly and easily.
Important If you use the Recruitment+ module, changing the hierarchy structure may affect your Sbands and any attached processes. In this case, you will see a warning message at the top of the Hierarchy Designer screen. Please contact the IRIS Cascade service desk for advice.
When you make changes to the hierarchy, it is automatically refreshed overnight. If you want to see the changes immediately, click Refresh Hierarchy Data. The time needed to refresh the hierarchy depends on its size.
Change your Hierarchy
-
Go to Admin > People, Posts and Skills > Hierarchy.
- You will see the Hierarchy Designer screen, showing your current hierarchy, with options for viewing, editing and printing at the right-hand side of the screen.
-
Use the options at the right-hand side of the screen to make the appropriate changes to the hierarchy, using this table as a guide:
Action
How to use
Add a node
Select the ‘parent’ node, click Add Node, and then type a name for the new node.
Delete a node
Select a single node (or a parent node to delete a section of the hierarchy), and then click Delete Node.
It is often advisable to mark nodes as not in use (see below) rather than deleting them. Before you can delete a node, you must remove all employees from that location, including historical job records.
Rename a node
Select the node, click Rename Node, and then type a new name for the node.
Copy a node
Select the node you want to copy, click Copy Node, and then click the location that you want to copy the node to.
Move a node
Select the node you want to move, click Move Node, and then click the location that you want to move the node to.
Mark a node as not in use
Select the node you no longer need, and then click Mark Node “Not in use”.
If you mark a node as not in use, it is removed from the Hierarchy picker on the Job & Salary screen but can still be reported on in Query Builder. If you want to view all nodes that are no longer in use, tick the box beside Show nodes not in use in the View Options section.
