Remove attendance types and attendance categories

System administrators can remove attendance types from attendance categories.

You can’t remove an attendance type or attendance category if it’s previously been assigned to an employee record, but you can mark it as not in use instead. This means that users won’t be able to select this attendance type or attendance category in future, but its history will remain in place for reporting purposes.

  1. Go to Admin.
  2. Look at the Calendars and Time section and select > select Attendance Categories.
  3. From Categories, select the appropriate attendance category.
  4. In the Associated Types/Reasons section, select Delete beside the attendance type that you want to remove. What happens next depends on whether or not the attendance type has already been used.
    • If the attendance type has not yet been used, you will see a confirmation message.
    • If the attendance type has already been used, you will see a message informing you that it cannot be deleted.

    If this happens, use the following steps to remove the attendance type from the options on Absence screen in future:

    • Select Edit beside the attendance type.
    • Clear the In Use checkbox.
    • Select Save.

Remove an attendance category

  1. Go to Admin.
  2. Look at the Calendars and Time section > select Attendance Categories.
  3. In the Categories list, select Delete beside the appropriate attendance category. What happens next depends on whether the attendance category has already been used:
  • If the attendance category has not yet been used, you will see a confirmation message. Select OK to clear the message and delete the attendance category.
  • If the attendance category has already been used, you will see a message informing you that it cannot be deleted.
    If this happens, use the following steps to remove the attendance category from the options on the Absence screen in future:
    • From the Associated Types/Reasons section, select Edit beside the first attendance type.
    • Clear In Use
    • Select Save
    • Repeat the above step for each associated attendance type.
