IRIS Cascade Database Download backups now require SQL 2019 or above to Restore
Over the course of the week starting February 27, 2023, we are doing rolling upgrades of Cascade’s Microsoft SQL Server database components from SQL 2016 to SQL 2019.
The servers are in highly available pairs so the disruption to the application will be minimal to none. The upgrades are being actively applied by engineers rather than an unmanned schedule, so any issues will be monitored and addressed immediately.
This is a proactive measure to align with our compliance measures for running recent and supportable platforms and dependencies.
-
ISO 27001 control A.12.6 regarding vulnerability management
-
Cyber Essentials control A6.2 regarding use of supportable software with security patches
We hope you’ll understand the need for the upgrade activity and all the planning that has gone in to ensuring a successful upgrade.
IRIS Cascade is fully supported on SQL 2019 and other than benefitting from the stability and performance improvements made by Microsoft over its database product releases. There will be no noticeable impact to customers with the exception of those making use of the Database Downloader capability in Cascade Cloud.
