Capital gains (SA900)
Use this section to enter details of chargeable gains and losses for the tax year. You can enter summaries of all the capital gains information which needs to be reported on the tax return, or you can enter individual disposals and allow IRIS Elements to calculate and summarise the gains and losses.
Refer to the HMRC Trust and Estate Tax Return Guide if needed (opens in a new tab).
- Select the Data input tab.
- Select Add a new section....
- From the Income tab, select Captial gains.
If the section is crossed through, it has already been added to the tax return. To adjust it the existing values, close the window and select the section on the Data Input tab.
- Enter the relevant details for this tax return:
- Summary tab
- Summary of disposals
- Losses brought forward
- Lifetime allowances brought forward
- Allocate losses against gains
- Calculation
- Losses to carry forward
- If required, enter an Additional text note for Tax Return. This is included in the submission.
- Disposals tab
Add [a] disposal for each disposal in the tax year:
- Foreign tax tab
- Foreign tax credit relief
- If required, enter an Additional text note for Tax Return. This is included in the submission.
- Non-resident tab
- Non-resident Capital Gains Tax Return
- If required, enter an Additional text note for Tax Return. This is included in the submission.
- Other events tab
Add [an] event for all this tax year's capital gains claims.
- Summary tab
- Select Save changes.
- Add other sections to your tax return as required.
