Payments to a trade union etc. for death benefits (SA100)

This screen is accessed via the Data Input tab within the tax return. Relief is available for a trade union subscription which entitles the tax payer to a pension, life assurance or funeral benefits. Relief is given on half of the part of the subscription which provides the benefits (up to a maximum of £100).

• Description – enter brief details of the trade union or friendly society.

• Death benefit portion – enter the portion of the subscription which is applicable for death benefits. IRIS Elements Tax and Accounts will restrict the amount entered on the tax return to half of this value or £100, whichever is lower.
