Biometric ID checks

When you run a biometric ID check, a link is sent to your client for them to complete the check on Veriphy™.

To complete the check your client needs:

  • UK passport or driving licence
  • Email address or UK mobile phone number
  • Must be available to take a live selfie

Your client has up to 28 days to complete the check. After this, the link will expire and you must run the check again.

Biometric ID report

Your client has 3 attempts to successfully verify their identity.

When your client completes the check, the Biometric ID check widget in IRIS Elements displays one of the following statuses:

Approved

The provided identity documents and information have been accepted, and your client's identity is verified.

Refer

The provided identity documents and information do not sufficiently match each other, and require manual review.

This may be caused by image issues, for example:

  • Blurry images
  • Partial obstruction of the document

We recommend checking the full report and included documents, and advising your client before they attempt to complete the check again.

Rejected

The provided identity documents could not be verified. This could be caused by a number of things including:

  • Unrecognised type of ID
  • Poor image quality
  • Evidence of editing or tampering

If your client does not complete the ID check with the 28 day period, the check will be Expired.
