Changing the Accruals Nominal for Accrued Income
When an accrual is posted, by default, the balance is transferred from the income or expenditure nominal, to the 9600 accruals nominal. Although it is not possible to have separate accruals nominals (one for income and one for expenditure), it is possible to change the nominal an accrual is posted to on an individual basis. For example, if you want to post accrued income to a separate balance sheet nominal, you can change the setting on the PARAMETERS ledger. However you will need to change the setting again if you want to post accrued expenditure.
Note: Before proceeding, please ensure that you have created an accrued income nominal, if it does not already exist.
To change the balance sheet nominal where an accrual is posted:
-
Select Masters > Accounts from the top menu. The List of Ledgers dialog is displayed.
-
Double-click the PARAMETERS ledger to select it. The List of Accounts dialog is displayed.
-
Select the ACCRUAL account from the left hand panel, then select the User Fields tab.
-
The Element Nominal field contains the core nominal where the accrual will be posted to - typically 9600 (Accruals). To change this simply overtype the existing core nominal with the required nominal.
-
Click the Apply button to save the changes. All future accruals will now post to this nominal. If you need to change the nominal, simply repeat this process.
