Renaming an Existing Nominal

There may be circumstances where you want to change the name of a nominal to something more applicable or you want to change the nominal code, perhaps so that the code appears in a different location in the nominal list.

It is important to note however, that any change must be made for each location as the changes are not automatically rolled out (because each location may want the nominal to be named differently).

All users must be logged out of the system before completing this process.

Amending Nominal Code

The following process renames the nominal code (the location code + the core nominal).

  1. Select Admin > Rename Nominal from the menu bar.
  2. The Rename Nominal dialog is displayed. Click the ? button and select the nominal to be renamed from the List of Nominals dialog.
  3. Enter the new Nominal code, noting that any preceding location code should be retained. If required, the Title can also be changed.
  4. Click the Rename A message dialog will be display prompting for confirmation of the change. Click the Yes button to confirm.
  5. A progress dialog will be displayed showing progress of the rename process, followed by a completion message dialog. Click the Yes button to close the dialog.

Amending a Nominal Title

When renaming a nominal title, it must be renamed in both the Nominal Maintenance dialog and the NOMINALS key list (which determines the title used for reports) as follows:

  1. Select Masters > Nominals from the menu bar to display the Nominals Maintenance dialog.
  2. Overtype/amend the existing Title, highlight the title then press Ctrl + C to copy.
  3. Click the Apply button then the Close button.
  4. Select Masters > Key Lists from the menu bar to display the Key List Maintenance dialog.
  5. Select the NOMINALS key list on the left-hand side then select the required nominal.
  6. Place your cursor in the Title field then press Ctrl + V to paste the previously copied title (alternatively type the new title in this field – the two titles do not need to match unless required).
  7. Click the Apply button to make the change then the Close button if no further edits are required.
