Understanding the module bar
The module bar only displays icons for the modules you have marked as 'Favourites'. The dashboard icon is always available to you in the module bar:
Modules help you to manage the information held in Ed:gen.
Your Ed:gen Administrator will set up modules, icons and module categories/module groups for your school.
Your Ed:gen Administrator sets up your access settings, which will affect your module bar.

To open a module, follow the steps below:
- Select the View All Modules icon in the top left of your desktop to display the module menu:
- Use the left hand menu to filter the modules displayed:
- All Modules displays all of the modules available to you.
- Favourites displays modules marked as your favourites. Select the star icon next to your chosen module to add it to your favourites.
- CATEGORIES. These are determined by the module groups created in the Modules & Programmes applet in the Control Panel and the properties assigned to each module. Select a category in the list to filter the modules displayed.
- Select a module name to display it in the desktop:
- Select a module tab at the bottom of the screen to switch to another module.
- Select the star icon by the module name in the top left to add/remove this module from your favourites. The module icon is displayed/removed in the module bar to reflect your selection.
- Use the icons in the top right of the module to refresh, minimise or close the module as required. If you choose to minimise a module, the module is still open and the module tab is still available to you.
- Use the More Options icon in the bottom left of the module bar to display a shortcut menu. Choose to:
- Open Control Panel. Jumps to the Control Panel module.
- Show Dashboard. Jumps to your dashboard.
- View/Edit Favourites. Jumps to the module menu, displaying your favourite modules.
- Clear All Open Modules. Closes all of the modules that you currently have open and displays your dashboard. All of the module tabs previously displayed in the task bar are closed.
Menu options are greyed out when not applicable.
Hold Ctrl and select a module to open multiple tabs of the same module.
Tabs at the bottom of the screen indicate all of the modules that you currently have open.
