Tills and FasTrak Admin are Running Slowly

Talk to your IT staff and ask them to check that the IRIS FasTrak server is running on a suitably powerful machine. IRIS FasTrak uses SQL server which requires sufficient resources to run efficiently, without them, response times will be very slow.

There needs to be a minimum of 8GB of RAM just for IRIS FasTrak which is over and above that required for the O/S and any other applications that may be running on that server. In addition, 1 socket and 4 cores attached to that single socket. (Do not share the 4 cores over more than one socket as “Microsoft SQL server Express” as installed by IRIS BioStore is limited to only one core).

Please monitor these resources over your busy periods. Memory allocation must not go over 80% as the till and Cash Loader (Reval) response will degrade. At 90% the tills will go offline which will result in finger, card and pin access being declined. If this occurs, then please increase the RAM available to the server.

In addition, please be aware that if an anti-virus application such as Sophos is installed on your server, then IRIS FasTrak transaction processing may encounter additional delays.
