Overview of Members

Members

The description of a data item within the dimension is referred to as a member, and must be unique. Using our previous example, the following graphic shows that USA, Germany, France and UK are members of the Country dimension. Books, Pens, Paper and Card are members of the Product dimension and so on. In our spreadsheet example, these would correlate to the individual columns for the Time dimension, the individual products for the Product dimension and names of the spreadsheets for the Country dimension.

In IRIS Financials data, a dimension could be a nominal with each member being a specific nominal.
