How to move PTP Share Register from one standalone PC to another

Step One - Installing PTP Share Register onto the new PC

PTP Share Register must be installed on the new PC. This can be done by installing from the Downloads page on our website.

Step Two - Backing up the information from the old PC

1. Open up PTP Share Register.

2. Click File and then Backup/Restore Data Files.

3. The screen tell you where your data is located and the backup location, in the bottom field. Click Start Backup to take a backup.

4. If you want to change the location of the backup click on the small button to the right of the backup location field and browse the new location.

4. A message displays when the backup has been completed. Click Close.

This process will save a zipped copy of the data within the PTP backup location.

• The default location for this is C:\Sharereg\DATA or C:\Backups_COSEC

Step Three - Restoring the back up onto the new PC

1. Open PTP Share Register.

2. Click File and then Backup/Restore Data Files.

3. Click Restore.
   
   A screen displays showing the location of the data at the top, the backup location in the middle and a field to select the appropriate backup at the bottom.

4. If the backup is in a different location click on the box to the right and browse to the backup location.

5. Select the backup and click Restore Data.
