How to move a standalone version of PTP Accounts from one machine to another

Introduction

This topic provides an outline of the process and links to how to guides and video walkthroughs for all the main processes involved in moving a standalone version of PTP Accounts Production from one machine to another.

Remove Your Licences

Backup the PTP database

Install Microsoft .Net Framework 4.6

Install Microsoft SQL Server

Microsoft SQL Server Express is only recommended for installations of up to six users. For full system requirements please click here.

  1. Click here to download the SQL server Express 2017 installer from the Microsoft website.

  2. On the Microsoft website download and run the SQL 2017 installation. Click Basic and it will do the installation for you.

  3. After the installation has finished there will be an option to install SSMS (SQL server management studio). Make sure to also download and install this. Once installed. follow the steps below:

    1. Click Start, SQL Server Tool 17 and then click SQL Server Management Studio.

    2. Select the required server and click Connect.

    3. Right-click Servername and select Properties.

    4. Click Security and then click SQL Server and Windows authentication mode.

    5. Click OK.

    6. Restart the SQL Services. Right-click Servername and select Restart.

    7. Retry the PTP installation.

Install PTP Accounts Production Software

Copy the Data Folder

Restore the PTP Accounts database

Recreate the PTPlogins

Reactivate your Licences
