How to use the HMRC pre-population of client data

Introduction

PTP will connect to HMRC and retrieve data on the current client every time Retrieve HMRC Data is selected.

 

 

Once the option is selected you are able to choose specifically which of the sets of data you wish to retrieve.

Before this feature can be used for the first time you will need to grant PTPauthorisation to access taxpayer information, once granted authentication will remain in place for 18 months.

Step 1 – How to setup this feature

First time access requires you to enter your agent credentials and 2 step verification on these.

  1. Accountants user ID and password must be entered (Govt. gateway details):

  1. Next step requires an access code sent to a Mobile, Landline or Mobile App to the accountants registered number:

  1. Once the 2 step verification process has been completed you will be required to grant the software with authority to interact with HMRC:

  1. PTP will call the APIs sending the individuals UTR and Tax year and HMRC will return details for the specified sources, you can choose which sources you wish to retrieve:
