How to configure the Windows Firewall for IRIS on Windows 7

Introduction

In some cases the Windows Firewall on the server may be blocking access to IRIS from the workstations. In these cases it may be necessary to set exclusions for the SQL Server within the Windows Firewall.

  1. Click Start | Control Panel

 

  1. Double-click Windows Firewall.

 

  1. Click Advanced Settings.

 

  1. Click Inbound Rules and then click New Rule.

 

  1. Click Port and then click Next.

  2. You will now need to specify the relevant TCP Port.

  1. Ensure TCP is checked and in the Specify Local Ports box enter 2345.

  1. Click Next.

  1. Make sure Allow the connection is checked and click Next.

  2. Select all three options:

  1. Click Next.

  1. Name the rule and click Finish.

  2. You now need to repeat this process to specify an Outbound Rule.

  3. Click Outbound Rule and then Click New Rule.

  1. Click Port and then click Next.

  2. You will now need to specify the relevant TCP Port.

  1. Ensure TCP is checked and in the Specify Local Ports box enter 2345.

  1. Click Next.

  1. Make sure Allow the connection is checked and click Next.

  2. Select all three options:

  1. Click Next.

  1. Name the rule and click Finish.

An Inbound and Outbound Firewall Rule has been configured for the SQL Installation in use by the IRIS Software.
