The client browser is used by all the IRIS products to select clients.
The central part of the screen lists the clients in identifier order, showing the identifier, type and name. It is not possible to sort the list into any other order.
The Search filter can be used to search by either the Client ID or by the Client Name. To carry out a more detailed search use the More Criteria option to search by name.
Use the slide bar, cursor keys, Page Up, Page Down, Home and End keys to move around the list.
Click Select or press Return to pick a client.
Click New to create a new person, business or trust and View to edit their details.
The Print option provides two client list options: a Simple Hardcopy, which lists the clients shown on the screen showing id, type and name, and a Client List option, which allows much greater flexibility.
If the list is blank, it may be because the range separator is set to a hyphen and the ID shown in the client identifier field (or the name in the client name field) contains a hyphen.
Change the range separator to '>' (recommended) or ':'. This can be found on General tab of Practice Options from the Setup drop-down menu.
Select the appropriate filter in the Search field to search by either
the Client identifier or the Client name.
If any text is entered into the Search field, a cross will display in
the field; selecting the cross will delete the text in the Search field
and remove the search results.
Client identifier filter - it is possible to jump quickly to the right part of the list by typing all or part of a client identifier with this filter selected. For example, entering F and pressing Return will take the list to the nearest match. It is also possible to restrict the list to a range of clients. For example, entering A>D will restrict the list to identifiers beginning with the letters A, B, C or D.
Client Name filter - type in all or part of the client's name (person's surname) to find all the clients that match.
The matching process will list all clients where the name (surname) contains the text entered in this field. For example, enter Smith to find Smith, Smithson, Blacksmith and so on.
Database view - the 'clients' actually listed will depend on the database view. With the exception of the Whole practice database view, the list will show only active clients for the selected product. The Whole practice view will list every business, person and trust on the database, regardless of their client status.
Include - these options will be set automatically depending on the database view selected. Selecting all the options will not show all the businesses,
people and trusts in the system unless the database view is set to Whole practice.
More Criteria - use the More Criteria option to search by alternative means (for example, partner, category, UTR and so on).
Clear Criteria - click Clear Criteria to remove any entry from the client identifier field, set the view to Whole practice and include businesses, people and trusts.
