For further information please see the Post Task Tutorial or Post Task Help screen.
The View Task screen is identical to that of the Post Task screen. If you own, have been assigned or have privileges to edit tasks you can change all the details as detailed below. If a Task is marked as Private and you are not the assignee nor the owner then you will not be able to see or edit any details.
The post/view task screen can be accessed from several different areas of Pm including:
Task Browser, Staff Control Panel, Client Task tab, Job Stages, Job Stage Fast Entry, Task Reminders.
When creating a New Task supply who the task is being assigned to. This will automatically default to the current login, by selecting the relevant staff member there.

There is a completed box which will generally not be ticked on creation of a new task and the field immediately to the right is the date that the task was completed. There is also a Due date field for the task, which although not compulsory, allows you to track the delay in completion of this task.
If the task is linked against a client job profile then when the task is completed a prompt will come up as to whether linked stage is to be completed or not. If Yes then the stage will automatically complete. If No then the task will complete but the stage will not.
The View tasks is very similar to the New task screen, except all fields are filled in from when it was initially created.
To Edit as task you need to have the privilege to do so. This can be checked by logging in a MASTER and then viewing the staff member and going to the Allowed tab. Scrolling to the bottom of this list. From here there are Task Privileges of which one of them is Can edit tasks assigned to you or Can edit any task. If you are editing the task to re-assign it to another staff member then you will need the 'Can re-assign tasks that have been assigned to you' selected as well.
Also the Task Owner can edit the task, and this will not rely on the Allowed tab on that staff member. The Task owner will also be able to re-assign the task.
