The task browser is the first window that you see when you log into Practice Management. It has now been superceded by the Staff Control Panel. The Task Browser can still be accessed from the PM icon. This allows you to see if you have any new tasks and for you to review all outstanding ones. A task is like a post-it note, a to-do item for each staff member.

From here you can also post new tasks to remind yourself or colleagues of work that needs to be done, or meetings that will appear in the future.

Posting a task can be as detailed or as brief as you like. To post a task decide who the task is going to. A subject can be entered and optionally more details of the task in the box below. This is the most basic needed for a task to be sent.

If required you can assign a Due Date to the task to say when this task is to be completed by. A reminder can be set against the task. When the reminder is reached a prompt will appear on the screen.

If needed you can link the task to a client, to allow the staff member to see which client you are referring to. You can also enter the specific client job and the stage in question. The advantage of this is that as the task is directly linked to the stage when you complete the task the system will ask if you want to complete the stage as well.

By setting the task to recur you can allow the automatic creation of tasks. This is useful if a certain task is needed every month. When the initial task is completed the next recurrence of the task will be created.

Once a task has been posted this will appear on the task browser. You can then review this as necessary and if needed, you can then re-assign to a different staff member to continue the work.

On the Task Browser screen you can customise the display by clicking Configure. This allows you to select the columns you want and also drag and drop the columns to the desired position.

Completing the task can be done in two ways:
