IRIS gives the main allowances automatically. A separate claim will be required for additional personal allowances and blind persons relief. Higher personal and married couple's allowances are given for those aged 65+. Personal allowance and blind person's relief are given as gross deductions from the person's income, the other allowances are given as rate restricted reliefs.
