Use this section to enter details of any retirement annuity premiums paid. RAPs were replaced on 1 July 1988 by Personal Pensions but any contracts held at that time continue to attract tax relief, albeit with slightly different percentage limits for the maximum contributions.
Enter the details of the provider on the provider record:
Name of INSURANCE Co etc - enter the name of the provider or click the magnifying glass to select from a list of the clients employers.
Administrators Name, Address etc - this is for information purposes only and so may be left blank.
The details of each contract are entered on the payment records:
Contract membership number - this must be completed but does not appear on the tax return.
Gross amount actually paid - enter the TOTAL amount actually contributed in the fiscal year, the allowable amount may be less than this if the client has insufficient net relevant earnings, enter the allowable amount using the maximum contributions screen. Do NOT deduct any amounts being carried back to a previous year.
Carried back, election already made - (for years pre 2013) use this section to input carry back elections made prior to submitting the previous years return, this information will appear in box 2 on TR4.
Carry back election to be made now - (for years pre 2013) use this section to input carry back elections being made now, this information will appear in box 3 on TR4.
Brought back from next year, enter any contributions being made in the following tax year which are being carried back into the current year, this information will appear in box 4 on TR4. This figure does NOT have a direct impact on the liability in the current year, a manual entry will be required in box 18.9 of the return, this is entered via the miscellaneous section..
