This screen shows the totals entered on the individual data entry screens for pension contributions and retirement annuity premiums. It shows the maximum allowable from the pension planner that takes into account unused relief available. It also provides a column to set your own maximum allowable amount.
Note that the two allowable amount columns will be ignored if the total paid gross in the tax year is less than the maximum allowable. If you want to enter an increased amount, enter an additional premium. The allowable amount columns act as caps to the contributions entered, they are not 'overriding totals'. Enter n to restrict the amount allowable to Nil.
Total paid gross this tax year column - the figures in this column are taken from the data entry screens for employee and self-employed pension contributions and retirement annuity premiums. The employee contributions have been grossed up 78/100 of net amount (77/100 from 1997-98 to 1999-2000 and 76/100 in 1996-97). The amount shown excludes any amount carried back to an earlier year. The amount that will appear on the return may be capped by an allowable maximum shown in one of the two columns to the right.
Pension Planner Amounts allowable column - the figures in this column are inserted from the pension planner, when the pension planner's [Use on Return] button is selected. It is the gross amount after deducting any amounts carried back to an earlier year. The amounts in this column act as a cap on the actual amounts entered.
Amounts allowable column - enter the gross maximum allowable amount that may be claimed in the year after deducting any amounts carried back. This will act as a cap on the amounts actually entered. Leave the column blank if no cap is required. Enter n to restrict the amount allowable to nil.
Select the column of figures to be used in the return and computation.
