The IRIS Automail software may be used to produce letters. It works by storing standard letters, called templates, and printing those letters for a selected client or range of clients. It is also possible for a number of events to be stored automatically. For example, when a new client is created, this event may be used to trigger a letter of engagement.
When a triggering event occurs, the following screen will be display (provided the Automail software has been installed and the prompt has not been hidden):
If you do not want to use Automail, ensure the 'request letter; box is not ticked and the 'don't show this dialog again' box is ticked.
If you do want to use Automail but do not want to see this prompt, tick the first and last questions and select the appropriate letter template, see the suggestions, below.
There are a number of trigger events in Personal Tax:
Creating a new client 90-070 Engagement: Individual or 93-020 Engagement: Sole trade.
Printing a final tax return 90-250 Tax Return cover.
Printing a live Internet return 90-250E Internet Tax Return cover.
Printing a checklist 90-210 Checklist cover.
Printing a form 64-8 90-100 64-8 cover: Individual.
Printing a form R40 90-600 R40 cover.
Printing a form SA303 91-200 SA303 cover.
Printing an overdue checklist list 90-230 Checklist reminder.
Entering the date return sent to IR 90-280 Tax Return submission.
If the letter is to be 'reviewed/printed now' the appropriate Automail screen is displayed.
