To access this screen,
go to Client | View | Basic tab | Auditor or Accountant
In Time and Fees, go to File | Client | View | Basic tab | Auditor or Accountant
Alternatively, from within the Client Browser, highlight a client and select View | Basic tab | Auditor or Accountant
Alternative auditors can be selected for reference on the financial statements. Alternative accountants can be selected to act as the agent for tax returns on a client by client basis. To use the alternative auditor/accountant as agent select Client | View and click Auditor or Accountant.
The different options on this screen are:
Agent - if selected to be the auditor/accountant then the same name and address used on the tax returns will also be used on the financial statements. Use the Agent option to change the details.
A user must be logged in as a Master user to amend the agent's details.
Alternative accountant / auditor - select and click the magnifying glass to select an alternative from the existing list or set up further alternatives. This option would be used where the practice is not the auditor or another branch of the practice acts for the client. This option means that many different accountants’ names and addresses can be setup on the system and then have the option of selecting the accountant for each individual client. The Accountant ID can be entered or click the magnifying glass in this box and it will show a list of accountants that have been setup. See Accountants / Auditors for more information.
The Can act as agent option has been added to the branch and accountant displays. If the option id not selected then that accountant/branch can't be picked as an agent.
No accountant / auditor - select if there is no Accountant / Auditor for the business. This will result in no accountant’s information being shown on the reports.
Also use this option for the client’s accountant/auditor - select if the selected accountant is also going to be the client’s auditor so the auditor’s information need not be entered again.
There are four options at the bottom of this screen. To see the details of the accountant currently selected click Show Details. The Agent option is where the name and address of the practice should be entered, if the first option is selected for Agent is selected here then these details will be shown on the reports. IRISPTP determines which agent details to use on returns as follows:
If an alternative accountant selected, and "Can act as agent" has been ticked this will be used first;
If no alternative accountant selected and there is a data centre licence then the branch will be used;
If no alternative accountant has been selected and there is not a data centre licence the agent details will be used.
Any data centre site for which the accountant relationship is already linked to a branch record need take no action, unless the accountant relationship is different than the branch relationship. If this is the case then please see factsheet FBI/ELS – Multiple Agent
If any changes are made to these screens and OK is clicked it will again ask if the event is to be logged. Only log it if it was a genuine change of details if it was just to rectify a mistake then it should not be logged. By clicking Log this will activate a Form 391. The Client Accountant Details screen will then be displayed. Once finished filling this screen in click OK to return to the IRISPTP Business Client screen.
If the changes made to this screen are not to be saved then click Cancel.
