Enter the unique identifier you wish to give this client. Click the magnifying glass to display a list of identifiers already used on the database.
If a person is registered in Personal Tax that same identifier should be used when setting up the person/director/trader in Accounts Production. Do not enter a second identifier, as the person will then be registered twice in the database.
The option to Generate client ids automatically is only available in SQL versions of IRIS where the option has been configured within Setup | Practice Options | Client IDs tab. Where a single sequence number is being shown this option will be greyed out and the client id inserted in the client identifier box.
The sequence number will be used even if Cancel is clicked or the identifier changed. Where the alternative method is in use, the option will be active: if selected the client identifier will show AUTO. Deselect the option to enter your own identifier.
An identifier can be changed for an existing business or person at a later stage. If you alter an identifier the change is made to the whole database. You will not be allowed to change an identifier to one that already exists on the database. To make this change select Client | View | Change ID. Enter the required (unique) identifier and click OK to save the change. If an identifier is altered the change is made to the whole database.
An identifier cannot be entered if it already exists on the database.
By selecting create job for the take on of this client will create a new client job for this client. This is a Practice Management feature used to track what has been completed for new clients for your practice. For example, money laundering checks, preparing engagement letters, Form 64-8 and so on.
To use this feature the standard job type for Take on new client must first be setup within System Maintenance | Practice | Standard Jobs types
