Within Personal Tax, postings can be imported for Sole Trades and UK Property via CSV or KashFlow.
Import for a sole trade is completed on a sole trade basis and can be accessed from the Trades, Profession or vocation | Sole trade or Partnership screen.
Importing for UK property is completed at a property type level. The two types are: FHL and Other. The import can be triggered from UK land and Property | Property Income
The import option will be disabled for UK property where there isn’t a corresponding Property entered within IRIS.
It is possible to not only import for a selected accounting period but also for a selected updated period where these have been set for a client, who is set up for MTD.
Where a client is set up for MTD and postings are being imported from a CSV, IRIS will intuitively allocate the dated postings to the specific update period ready for users to review and import.
Imported postings will be appended to the IRIS postings, (this is the default setting, however there is a setting to replace the IRIS postings if this is the preferred method - Change import method within the settings).
Having selected the import via either CSV or KashFlow a summary screen displays.
MTD specific
If a client is set up with updated periods, IRIS will automatically allocate the postings from the CSV within each of the updated periods.
Postings without a date will not be able to be allocated to an update period and therefore will not be displayed. Selecting between each of the update periods will display the postings relating to that update period.
An IRIS Values table displays the postings which already exist within IRIS for the selected period. From these entries a decision can be made as to which postings may need to be imported.
In order to import with the highest level of confidence it would be recommended that the CSV conforms with the expected headers within IRIS (A/c No., Description, Amount, Date). Please find CSV templates in the IRIS import templates page.
Import method
There are two different methods used to import the postings, Append or Replace.
The method of import can be altered within the Settings screen which can be accessed via the
Append - importing postings using this method will add the postings to the existing postings within IRIS
Replace - importing postings using this method will replace the IRIS postings currently entered with the postings entered on the CSV, for a selected period.
Reset to default
IRIS will attempt to automatically match postings to an IRIS category. Where a match has not been established, the category will remain as Select category, which will require user input.
Once a user has selected an IRIS category, on importing the postings, this selection will be remembered for future imports.
The customised import will be remembered on a per client basis.
Selecting Reset will remove all customised settings from previous imports, reverting to the default mapping.
