IRIS - Client Budgets

Figure 15

The Client Budgets feature in the IRIS Time Ledger is used to store the fees budgets data displayed in the Billing Dashboard as there is no corresponding feature available in the Fees Ledger at this time.

In this example we have posted the fee budget for client A045 for the 2004 year in the period 2003/12, one year behind the actual.

The reason why we post the fee budget one year behind is because typically you would set your fees budgets at the beginning of your finance year, in this case period 2004/1 or earlier. Period 2004/12 is not yet available without opening all the time periods for the current year but period 2003/12 can be used.

Important Note

The existence of more than 3 time periods slows down the running of the IRIS Time Ledger reports and can result in more user errors. These occur when the user is matching time or posting time adjustments as there are multiple time periods open for them to post to incorrectly.

There is no quick way of entering these budgets in the IRIS Time Ledger; they have to be entered for each client separately.

You need to click on Budgets in the IRIS Time Ledger and select Client’s Budget and the above screen will open. Enter the client ID you want to enter the budget for and click on the tab button and not the enter button otherwise the screen will disappear.

Next enter the financial year and click tab; this is one year behind your current year, 2003 in this example.

Next select add row and select OK on the screen that pops open showing the “Not associated with any job/group/type” radial option as selected.

Next enter the fee budget value in any of the periods, £25,000 in this example and click enter and the save.

You can then enter the next Client ID and go through the same process until you have entered all your clients’ fee budgets.
