The amendments to the Annual Return
are as a result of new regulations. The Companies Act 2006 (Annual
Returns) Regulations 2011 (SI 2011/1487) which comes into force from
the 1st October 2011 includes a requirement to use the SIC 2007 codes.
For more information on UK SIC 2007 codes and the changes to the Annual
Return, please visit Companies House website: www.companieshouse.gov.uk/about/sic2007.shtml
Only version 10.7 or later will have the option to update the UK 2003
SIC codes to UK 2007 SIC codes and the updated Annual Return form.
When an Annual Return (AR01) is generated with a made up date of 1st
October 2011 or later using the 2003 SIC Codes, a warning message
will appear. Users are then required to manually amend the SIC Code
using the 2007 database. If the form is generated with a date prior
to 1st October, using the 2003 SIC codes no warning message is displayed
on generation of the form.

updated with the UK SIC 2007 codes, as displayed above.
IRIS maps the 2003 Code to a 2007 Code and recommends possible alternative
code(s) which may be more appropriate. If the Business Description
is entered under Client |View and there are no SIC codes entered,
then no mapping is done.
If ONLY the Business Description is entered, the form cannot be electronically
filed, users are required to submit the form by ‘Paper’. If users
wish to electronically file the form and they are not able to find
an appropriate code within the 2007 SIC Code list then they may want
to consider using 82990 - ‘Other Business Support Service activities
not elsewhere classified’ as the main SIC code.
It is the user’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate UK SIC 2007
code has been selected for the client.
The AR01 form will be generated in the IRIS PDF Viewer, please review the details and close out of the preview screen.
