Important information for users of Microsoft Exchange
If your practice uses Microsoft Exchange to send and receive emails and you want to utilise the new email service IRIS requires you to send and monitor emails using SMTP and POP3.
Alterations to the exchange server may be necessary which will require assistance from your Microsoft Exchange expert to accurately complete this type of configuration.
The following is required on the exchange server before configuring IRIS:
The SMTP virtual server will need to be enabled for sending messages (this is turned off by default)
The POP3 virtual server will need to be configured for receiving messages (this is turned off by default)
Specific workstations may need to be given permission to allow relaying through the exchange server.
IRIS monitors email accounts and not mail enabled folders therefore ensure the address being used for Companies House correspondence is an email account.
Sending and monitoring emails from within IRIS will require the specific email accounts to be configured for using SMTP and POP3 by specifying the accounts on the POP3 virtual server properties in the Exchange System Manager.
IRIS does not accept any responsibility for configuring your exchange server. Such alterations to the exchange server may require additional alterations to permissions and security settings and is therefore best undertaken by your Microsoft Exchange expert.
