Click Reports and then Electronic Tax Return.
Select Final in the Electronic return status section.
Selecting Test will send the return to the test servers and therefore will NEVER be looked at by HMRC.
For Files to attach, there are options to send attachments with the partnership return.
The two options are:
Select External PDF - click the magnifying glass and browse the computer / network to find and select an existing PDF
Select from Communication Tracking - allows Practice Management users to attach accounts or other PDF documents stored within IRIS Communications Tracking
Remove - used to remove files which have been attached to the Electronic Tax Return
Once a return has been generated it is possible to see the names of the files that have been attached. Select Reports and click Transmit Internet Return.
Right-click on the return in question and select Properties from the menu.
Once the Electronic
Tax Return screen is complete, click OK.
A normal return will be printed and an Internet (XML) file automatically
stored for later transmission to the Revenue.
The return can then be sent to the clients for signature and then returned. If the client has made any changes to the return, enter the changes then reprint the entire return and regenerate the electronic tax return.
By doing this the Internet return will automatically overwrite the old XML file.
After generating the return, it needs to be sent.
Click Reports and then Transmit Internet Return.
Highlight the return(s) to be transmitted and click Transmit.
The process should take about 30 seconds but can take longer.
At the end of this time an acceptance or rejection message displays.
If there is no response from the Revenue after three minutes, IRIS cuts the connection and leaves the return in a pending status.
To pick up the response, highlight the return, right-click and select Reset status. Confirm by clicking Yes and then click Transmit again.
After clicking Transmit, wait for the return to process. When this is complete, Cancel changes to Close.
Clicking Close will display a message for each return transmitted which will be:
Confirm that the return was accepted or rejected and offer the user the option of printing the acceptance / rejection message.
Inform the user that the Government Gateway was busy and ask the user to try again later using Query Again.
Pending Status the user needs to reset the status (as stated above) and then try transmitting again.
