How to link Xero clients in Accounts Production

Introduction

This topic explains how to link a client in Accounts Production to a client in Xero. If Xero login details have already been entered skip to Step 2 for instructions on how to link a client.

Step 1 - Entering Xero Account Details

  1. From the Accounts Production toolbar select Setup | Practice Options

The following screen displays.

  1. Click Bookkeeping...

  1. ...then select Xero.

  2. Enter an email address and password and click OK.

  3. Click OK on the Practice Options screen.

 

Step 2 - Linking Clients in Accounts Production with clients in Xero

  1. From the Accounts Production toolbar select View Client, the following screen displays.

  2. Click the magnifying glass in the Link to Bookkeeping field:

 

The following screen displays.

  1. Click the magnifying glass in the Xero field, as long as Xero credentials have been entered it should log into Xero.

 

The following screen displays.

  1. Click the Select an organisation drop-down to see a list of clients that can be linked.

  2. Select a client on this list and click Allow access.

 

The client will now appear linked as below.

  1. Click OK.

  1. Click Save and then Close.

 

 

Step 3 - Disconnecting Client Links in Accounts Production

  1. From the Accounts Production toolbar select View Client.

The following screen displays.

  1. Click the magnifying glass in the Link to Bookkeeping field.

 

The following screen displays.

  1. Click the red X in the Xero field and the client will be removed. Click OK.

 

  1. Click Save and Close on the Client Maintenance screen to save this change.

 

Step 4 - Disconnecting Client Links in Xero

Once a client link is removed in Accounts Production that client will still show as connected in Xero and will appear as a connection when linking the Accounts Production client to a different Xero client, as shown below.

  1. Clicking  Continue with 1 organisation will re-link the original Xero client, however a different Xero client can be linked by selecting them from the drop-down menu and clicking Allow access. Multiple clients can be linked in Xero at the same time although only one active link is allowed in Accounts Production.

  1. Completely removing the client connection can only be done in Xero. Log in to Xero, select the organisation with the connection then select Settings | Connected Apps, the following screen displays.

  2. Select Disconnect next to IRIS Accountancy Suite.


The following confirmation displays:

  1. Select Disconnect app to remove the connection.
