Timesheet Time Postings

The New Entry option can be used to post entries into the timesheet grid. Alternatively, entries can be posted directly into the grid. Click here for further information.

 

To access the Timesheet Time Postings screen:

  1. Enter the Time Ledger.

  2. Click Post WIP.

  3. Click Timesheet.

  4. Type the staff identifier, or select using the magnifying glass.

  5. Click New to create a new timesheet, or reopen to view.

  6. Click New Entry.

or alternatively,

  1. Log into Practice Management.

  2. From the staff control panel, click Timesheet time postings.

  3. Click New entry.

The Timesheet Time Postings screen displays.


To make a timesheet posting;

Time Worked - enter the amount of time worked. For example, 1 for 1 hour.

The format of the time input can be decimal, hourly, or by unit value, as set within the Time Ledger options, general tab.

Date Worked - enter the date of the timesheet. For example,01/01/04.

 

Date Worked - Timesheet postings are made to a date to keep record of when the posting was made.

The date worked can be entered to a date, as weekly totals or as timesheet totals as selected in the Time ledger options timesheet entry tab. This determines level of detail client and non-charge posting into timesheets are made.

Client / Non Charge Activity - type the client or non charge activity identifier, or select using the magnifying glass.

Client Job - to post to a client job type the job type identifier, or select using the magnifying glass.

 

Once Job Types have been set up onto the system they can be assigned to the client to become a client job type. Client job types can be registered manually when the client is created, or on-the-fly as you post to the client.

 

To create a client job type whilst posting:

Job types created for annual or periodic intervals require additional information. For example, an annual job Acc/2002, or period job SLT/2002/1  be entered.

 

To enable job types go to the Practice management options and click Use job types. Job types are then available to be used in the time ledger. To used job types in the time ledger go to the Time Ledger Options and ensure that account at job level is selected.


Work Type

To post to a Work Type enter the identifier, or select using the magnifying glass.

Work Types are the second level of analysis within Time & Fees and can be used in conjunction with Job Types, or independently.

Work Types should be considered for describing the type of work the individual is performing on behalf of the client, for example meeting, telephone conversation and bookkeeping, as an automatic form of narrative.

Narrative

Similar to Work type, a narrative can be typed to describe the type of work the individual is performing on behalf of the client. For example, 'preparing accounts to be finalised'

Click Post to confirm the Time Ledger posting, or Close to cancel.
