Client WIP movements Report (Options)

The Client WIP movements report is a Time Ledger report that displays the movement of WIP at client level.

To produce a client WIP Movements report complete the options, order, selection and columns tabs in sequence. (See report format help topic)

 

To load the WIP movements report:

  1. Enter the Time Ledger.

  2. Click Reports.

  3. Click Client Reports, or Job Reports.

  4. Select the WIP Movements Report.

The Option screen allows you to define system constraints for the Client WIP movements report.  

 

The following options are available:

Time Periods Movements are Required for

Select one of the following options to set the timescale for the Client WIP movements reports:

 

Current Periods

When this option is selected posting made between the earliest and latest current periods will be displayed.

Last periods up to 

If you select this option the field to the right becomes available.  Here you can enter the number of periods (prior to the most current period), that you wish to run the report for.

For example, if the number 2 is entered into the field, postings made into the current period and its preceding period will be displayed.

Time Periods From 

If this option is selected the fields 'from' and 'to' become available. Here you can enter the start and end of a period range that the report is to be run for.

 

Dates From 

If this option is selected the fields 'from' and 'to' become available. Enter into these fields the start and end dates that the report is to be run for.


 

Exclude

The exclude option omits clients to produce a more concise report.

The following options are available:  

Any Lines where all amounts are zero

Select this option to exclude clients without any postings made into the selected range. The range is set within the time period movements are required for section above.

 

Accounts with no movements

Select this option to exclude clients without movements within the selected range. The range is set within the time period movements are required for section above.

For example, if £20 of WIP was posted an £20 written out on a client, then this client would not be displayed.

 

Accounts with no net movement

Select this option to exclude clients with zero Net WIP movements for the selected range (the range is set within the time period movements are required for section above).

Accounts with Net WIP less than

Select this option to exclude clients with zero Net WIP movements below a specified value, for the selected range (the range is set within the time period movements are required for section above).

Accounts with Zero Net WIP

Select this option to exclude clients with a zero WIP balance.

If the report is being run by a period range (the range is set within the time period movements are required for section above), clients can be omitted by their current WIP balance or by the balance as at the end of the range (as set within the  Balance section).

If the report is being run by a date range clients will be excluded based upon their current WIP balance.

 


 

Level of Detail

The Level of detail option relates to the first sort criteria that is selected under the Order tab. On the WIP Movements Report there are three options:

 

One line per account

Each client that satisfies the Selection criteria will be displayed on a separate line on the report.

 

Include Postings

Each client that satisfies the Selection criteria will be included in the report. The information will be presented will print the individual posting by the first sort criteria of the Order tab.

 

Summary subtotals only

Every client that satisfies the Selection criteria will be included in the report. The information will be subtotalled by the first sort criteria selected under the Order tab. For example, if the first sort criteria selected was Partner. One line of totals would then be printed for each of the partners registered on the system.

 


 

On Posting show

When the level of detail option is set to include posting the following options are available:

 

W/T or expense Categories 

If a work type or expense posting was selected when the posting was made, then the identifier will appear next to these postings.

 

Posting Details 

If a narrative was entered when the posting was made, then these details will be displayed on the report.

 


 

Balance

The Balance option will set whether the current balance, or a historical balance, is displayed on the report.

Up to date 

Select this option to display the current WIP balance.

As at end of range 

Select this option to display the balance as at the end of the range (the range is set within the time period movements are required for section above).


 

Budget on Reporting Period

The Client WIP movements report can be used to compare budgeted figures with actual WIP postings made. The budget on reporting period option can be used to omit clients on the report that are over or under budget by a specified percentage.

The following options are available:

No check

Select to display clients, regardless of whether they are over or under budget.

 

Achieved

Select and enter either over or under by, and enter the required percentage to filter clients

For example, if over is selected and the number 10 is entered within the percentage field, clients whose actual figures are at least 10% more than the budgeted figures will be displayed. For example, clients that are 10%, 15%, 20% will be displayed.

If under is selected and 10 is entered within the percentage field, clients whose actual figures are at least 10% under the budgeted figures will be displayed. For example, clients that are 10% under budget, 20% under budget and 30% under budget will be displayed.


 

Budget Year to Date

Similar to budget on reporting period option, the Client WIP movements report can be used to compare budgeted figures with actual WIP postings made for the periods.

The budget year to date option can be used to filter clients, reporting  on budgeting and actual postings made into for the current financial year. For example, period 2004/1 to 2004/10 if the current financial year is 2004.

The following options are available:

No check

Select to display clients, regardless of whether they are over or under budget.

 

Achieved

Select and enter either over or under by, and enter the required percentage to filter clients

 

For example, if over is selected and the number 10 is entered within the percentage field, clients whose actual figures are at least 10% more than the budgeted figures will be displayed. For example, clients that are 10%, 15%, 20% will be displayed.

If under is selected and 10 is entered within the percentage field, clients whose actual figures are at least 10% under the budgeted figures will be displayed. For example, clients that are 10% under budget, 20% under budget and 30% under budget will be displayed.
